The Chimera .410 shotgun is a hybrid metal and 3d printed shotgun which can be assembled with basic hand tools and which does not rely on any controllable parts.
The Chimera, like most PilotGeek releases, is more a proof of concept design than a viable weapon. It lacks basic safety features and has none of the quality of life features that a modern shooter would expect. This also means it can be built with a far more mundane tool and skillset. It is one of the easiest 'from scratch' projects available.
The Chimera is currently on version 1.4. The exact changes are not listed but appear to be minor, such as swapping out an m5 screw for a 1/4" rod for the pivot pin.
Building a Chimera requires a drill and a way to cut metal tubing with a template. A handheld drill is sufficient, if slow and cumbersome for the barrel, and a dremel is enough to handle all cutting that needs to be done.
An example build is documented Here
Parts Dispensed offers a parts kit for the Chimera minus the square tubing, which can easily be sourced at most hardware or farm supply store. The tubing which acts as the barrel is the hardest part to acquire and is the only part you will likely need to specially order. Numerous tubing supply stores can be found online.
